HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

From a concept of “partnership in housing” developed in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller to today, Habitat for Humanity has become a dream come true in addressing the need of poor housing conditions.  In all the 50 United States and in over 70 countries, more than 46 million people have achieved strength, stability and independence with adequate shelter and decent affordable homes through the Habitat for Humanity programs.  While working alongside volunteers, homeowners build their own homes and pay an affordable mortgage.

Grounded in the belief that housing is the gateway to lifechanging possibilities, Habitat for Humanity opens doors to new possibilities and new realities.  This organization works with partners and startups to scale housing solutions, investing in sustainable eco-friendly housing technologies, listening to community concerns, and championing housing policies to support affordable housing opportunities for all. Habitat for Humanity has recognized all of these are elements for building a more equitable world for all.

Countless studies have proven the positive impact having a decent affordable home and Habitat for Humanity is one key for achieving this in the following ways and more:

  1. Housing can have a significant impact on a family’s health, lessening exposure to personal and environmental risks, better access to health care and others benefits.
  2. The organization is committed to providing safe places for a family to call home from having a front door that locks to making much needed repairs and addressing hazards people have lived with too long.
  3. A family’s living conditions can play a major role in a child’s educational opportunities and achievements, including leading to education opportunities for themselves or their children and even providing an adequate space to study.
  4. Child development is impacted by a child’s living conditions with quality, location, and affordability of housing impacting a child’s ability to thrive.
  5. A family’s financial security is increased with having an affordable home.

These impacts and more have been evidenced through the work of Habit for Humanity.  It is with pride and great pleasure that Cable Tie Express has chosen this charity for its monthly CTE Gives Back! Program for February 2023.
