JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION
With a vision of a world without Type 1 Diabetes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading global organization funding Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research. This autoimmune disease can strike children and adults suddenly with no correlation to lifestyle or diet. There is nothing one can do to prevent it nor is there currently a cure for this disease. In short, with T1D the body stops producing insulin, a hormone the body needs to get energy from food, now requiring daily attention and manual intervention. Monitoring blood sugar levels and balancing insulin doses in eating and activity throughout the day is key to the management of this disease.

“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” Many have heard this quote but one nonprofit organization, Rapha Road out of Noblesville IN, has enabled a similar opportunity with beneficial results for lifelong healing for sober men in addiction recovery.
Kevin Mangins, founder of Rapha Road, started the 501© after seeing men leaving a treatment center in Indiana without a safe and sober place to live or employment. That vision led to the formation and mission of Rapha Road: “Rapha Road exists to provide a safe place for sober men in addiction recovery to live while also providing full time employment. Rapha Road equips residents with the required skills to live a productive life, all while experiencing the freedom that only comes from a personal relationship with Rapha, God the Healer.”

CHILDREN’S ORGAN TRANSPLANT ASSOCIATION
February is highlighted with Valentine’s Day and thoughts of love. Nothing is more precious than the love parents have for their children and that perhaps is what led to the saying, “a parent is only as happy as his/her saddest child”. In thinking of that, we know that life sometimes throws curveballs and when life-saving measures, such as an organ transplant, are needed for a child, that is a curveball that needs fielded with great strength, courage, love – and financial resources.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA)
As is often said, a dog is “man’s best friend” and certainly for so many from coast to coast that rings true as dog’s and other animals occupy a most special spot in many households. However, it’s amazing how many dogs and animals are victims of cruelty and because of that, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, better known as the ASPCA, was established over 150 years ago by Mr. Henry Bergh. It was the first humane society in North America and today remains one of the largest in the world.

MILITARY WORKING DOG TEAM SUPPORT ASSOCIATION
November 11 – Veteran’s Day – Truly a day when we pay our respect for those who have served. We celebrate and honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. We salute each and every one of our veterans.
As we stand united in respect and thanks to our veterans, there is another group deserving recognition and thanks for supporting our military throughout the decades: military working dog teams.
These teams have truly been “force multipliers” and “sensor systems” for the military and are deployed worldwide. Their focus is on force protection – explosives and weapons detection, search and rescue, tracking, patrol, security, and drug detection.
